THE FRONTBALL AT THE WORLD GAMES 2013
The WORLD GAMES are organized by the International World Games Association (IWGA) which is under the auspices of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
This multi-sport gathering takes place every four years. It brings 4000 athletes from 120 countries together in disciplines which are not yet part of the Olympics, but which have all the virtues to become a part.
In July 2013, the World Games took place in Cali, Colombia.
Frontball was invited to the World Games as a demonstration sport.
Several athletes of various nationalities were present to compete on the Frontball court in Jamundi where the demonstration sports tournaments took place.
Americans, Colombians, Argentines, Mexicans, French, Puerto Ricans, British, Irish, Ecuadorians, Russian, Chinese, Bosnian, etc.
The frontball players received a warm Latin American welcome in Jamundi.
They competed for two days, providing plenty of surprises both in terms of the game level and the discovery of new talented players...
Following the two days of tournaments, the Coliseo was sold out the night of the finals.
"El invincible" (Orlando Diaz, Mexico), already champion of the last two World Tours, won the World Games finals 15-9 versus the young Frenchman, Mickael Massonde.
Among the women, it was also the World Tour champion, Maritxu Housset (France), who won the big cup 15-8, this time versus the Bosnian, Jasmina Djukanovic.
